BACK TO BACK THEATRE
We travelled to Cambridge, UK to shoot and edit The Democratic Set’s newest project forBack to Back Theatre.
The project takes place on a specially designed film set, which features a The project took place on a specially designed film set, featuring a neutral space with two opposite doors that can be manipulated, extended, or pushed by participants. Each person who entered the set had complete control over how they spend their time there, resulting in a unique living record of a community at a particular moment in time. The project was funded by the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and the Victorian Government. Back to Back Theatre is supported by the Australia Council for the Arts, Creative Victoria, and the City of Greater Geelong.
The Democratic Set is an unfiltered exploration of the principles of equality and liberty, created by combining a series of short film performances. As viewers watch the sets unfold on screen, they are invited to contemplate what it means to have an unbridled space, and to be delighted and intrigued by the set’s mysterious, humorous, poignant, and provocative aspects.
